» Certified translations

A certified translation can be carried to completion only by a translator notably qualified in this regard by the Ministry of Justice. While accepting the translation, the certified translator undertakes to translate the text submitted on all counts, heart and soul, and not to distort its content and meaning. Certified translations include, without limiting to, documents such as: invoices, General Assembly’s resolutions, balance sheets of companies, contracts concluded between companies, standard tender documents, e-correspondence, documents issued by lawyers, press articles, certificates, and so on and so forth…

» Legalised translations

(1) When asked to provide a legalised translation, unless it has been performed by the public notary certified to this purpose, the certified translator subject to the law in force, who has actually completed the translation, shall sign the certifying formula while the public notary shall legalise the former’s signature. The legalisation of a translator’s signature can be also applied based on the specimen signature handed in by the translator at the public notary’s office.

(2) Assuming that a document is translated from Romanian into one foreign language or, furthermore, from one foreign language into another, then both the translation’s certification and the signature’s legalisation by the public notary shall be also provided in the target language.

The translator shall place the certified translator’s stamp (subject to the Ministry of Justice) and signature in the lower right corner of each and every page translated, as well as on every binding of two stapled pages, so that the stamp and signature can be seen on both such pages. Blank pages (back side) are barred diagonally, with the certified translator’s stamp laid in the middle. Provided that the text in the source language is numbered, the numbering shall be strictly transposed on the text subject to translation. Otherwise, the translator shall number both the source language and the target language versions, separately.

is clearly provided under art. 320 – (1) of Order 2333, on the approval of the Regulation regarding the application of Law no. 36/1995
